Massachusetts Economy Mission 2011

by Ricardo Betti on December 7th, 2011

Last night we had a wonderful reception at Casa da Fazenda (Morumbi), gathering alumni from many Massachusetts schools living in Brazil.

A large group of MIT Sloan alumni talked to Governor Deval Patrick, who warmly greeted us and thanked our support to the Mission, whose aim was basically to discuss opportunities for collaboration and partnership between entrepreneurs from Massachusetts and Brazil, focusing on the Innovation Economy.

The house was packed, the Governor speech was brief, and we had the chance to chat with the General Consul of Brazil in Boston, Mr. Fernando Barreto, and to enjoy the presence of a special invitee: the soccer star Cafu, the only footballer in history to play 3 World Cup finals. In the 2002 final, he became globally famous when he raised the trophy and yelled "Regina, eu te amo!" before a TV audience of 2 billion people, probably the world's largest audience for a love declaration!
